TMS is approved for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and some symptoms of schizophrenia. There is also rapidly emerging evidence for its use in the treatment of a large number of conditions including migraine, smoking cessation, PTSD, tinnitus, and chronic pain. TMS Auckland currently uses TMS only for treatment-resistant depression.
People with recent significant physical health issues such as stroke, heart attack, poorly controlled seizures, and certain types of metal implants in the head or neck. Dental fillings are not a contraindication. Pregnancy is considered on a case-to-case basis.
Yes, TMS can be used concurrently with psychotropic medications.
If you are more comfortable having someone with you during your treatments, they are more than welcome to join you. TMS will have no impact on anybody else who accompanies you in the treatment suite.
Please give 24 hours notice prior to appointment. Cancellation fee may apply if cancelled within less than 24 hours.
Currently, TMS is not publicly funded or covered by private medical insurance in New Zealand.
Free off-street patient parking is available at the front of the building. There is also street parking and parking across the road behind the church hall.
